Paper Doily Shamrock or Clover Tutorial ~ White Cottage St. Patrick's Day Crafts

Hello,
As promised in an earlier post
here is a tutorial for making 4 leaf clover's or shamrocks
using left over heart shaped doily's from Valentine's Day.
Materials Needed:
Heart shaped paper doily's
Lollipop Sticks
Stapler
Glue Gun
Start by folding just the bottom of the doily
in an accordion type manner ...
hard to describe but like this...
Once folded staple the bottom at the fold.
Make 2 or 3 more...
((Yes I didn't know this but apparently there is a difference))
Once you have enough "leaves" made
staple them all together at the bottom.
Then slightly bend the lollipop stick
and attach it to the bottom of the doily
with a bit of hot glue.
I stuffed mine between the folds to hide the glue.
And that's all there is to it :)
So easy and they look pretty in a vase
or you could use them to make a banner
or add to your potted plants or whatever use you can find for them!

A pretty white cottage St. Patrick's Day decoration!!!
I also went out into the field and dug up some
wild clover and planted it in an urn vase
to add to my decorations this year!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial
and have fun decorating!

Beverly

Cottage Decorating For Fall In Black And White

Hello,
It seems kind of early but I have been seeing
roadside stands and markets selling pumpkins already.
I just love the white variety of "ghost" pumpkins.

The pumpkins on the right are called casper pumpkins.
Haunted Bay has all the information you would
ever want or need to know about pumpkin varieties!
There is just so many ways to decorate with these
and especially if you do not like the traditional orange fall colors.
These are perfect as a base for achieving the shabby cottage look!

These beautiful ideas are from Good Housekeeping along with how to's.

I sooo love these!!!
These are all made by using stickers.
These can be found along with directions and other great ideas

Directions for this simple yet elegant wreath can be found
And these elegant crepe paper flowers
can also be found at Country Living.

This simple country cottage table setting can also be found at Country Living.
I love the earthy country touch of the burlap on the hutch.

If you don't have the time to make or paint your own
Pottery Barn have these lovely white pumpkin candles.

I hope you enjoy these and have a great evening!

Easy Romantic Pearl Covered Votive Holder

Hello,
This is an easy votive candle holder made by wrapping a glass votive cup with a strand of craft pearls.

Materials Needed:
Glass Votive Cup
Approx. 3 yards of Pearls
(depending on what size pearls used,,, for this project I used 3m - the tiny ones)

To begin remove any stickers from the votive and make sure it is clean and dry.

Starting at the center bottom of the votive cup apply a dot of low melt glue and make a tight circle with the strand of pearls.

Continue glueing and wrapping the pearls until the bottom of the votive cup is covered.

Turn the votive up and continue glueing and wrapping until you have the entire cup covered.

Add a candle or battery operated tealight candle and you have a beautiful romantic votive holder.

These would be beautiful for a wedding table centerpiece and would also make a great gift item.

These look so pretty when they are lit with the light shining through.

I hope you enjoyed this craft and thank you for stopping by.

Rusty Tin And Cinnamon Painted Ivy

Hello,
I was looking through some things in my shed today and I came across this little rusty tin.
I think it originally belonged in an old coffee pot because it was in a bag with other old inserts for percolator coffee pots.  But I thought with all the holes in it that it would be perfect for a candle and would look like a punched tin candle holder.

I wrapped a piece of burgundy checked ribbon around it and tied some cinnamon sticks together and put in the center.  Then I added some white pip berries... but it still looked "unfinished".  I had some green silk ivy but it was "too green" and didn't match the rustic country look of the tin.

So I decided to paint the ivy with cinnamon and vanilla!  I have used this technique with plaster christmas ornaments but I had never tried it on silk flowers.  I must say it turned out better than I had expected!

This is so easy and all you need is about a tablespoon of ground cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla extract. You just mix them together until you get the consistency of paint and brush it on the leaves.

You could also mix the cinnamon with some white all purpose glue like I use on my gingerbread ornaments to look like batter.  But I like the added scent of the vanilla and it dries to a lighter "rusty" color than the darker color of mixing with glue.

Once the leaves were dried I added them to the candle holder.  This is an upclose picture and you can see how pretty the cinnamon looks on the leaves.

I added a battery operated candle inside and it looks so pretty lit up.

I will be listing this on ebay http://shop.ebay.com/cinnamonrosecottage/m.html
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this.
