Country Prim Gingerbread Wall Decor Made From Rusty Vintage Tongs

Hello,
I wanted to share these gingerbread girl Christmas decorations
that I recently made.

I had two old and rusty vintage salad tongs...
that I just couldn't seem to sell and of course I couldn't throw them out...
sounding like an episode of Hoarders! ;)
So I decided to dress them up a bit with some faux greenery,
a resin gingerbread girl, berries and cinnamon sticks!
And I finished them off with a burgundy checked bow...
I added a jute tie for hanging...
Perfect for any Country or Primitive decor!

If the tradition fall color's do not fit into color scheme
for decorating here are some great ideas for cottage decorating in muted colors.

The first is this awesome simple to do burlap fall banner.
This could be customized to any color theme.
The tutorial and more can be found at Fabulous K.

Next are these beautiful muted white pumpkins made from recycled sweaters.
I love the way they look like vintage lace or linens.
These would like great in any country, shabby or chic cottage decor.
These can be found at Mary's Meanderings.

Take a look at this fresh green centerpiece's made with assorted green veggies.
The white pillar candles are accented by the natural colors of the florals and greens.

This arrangement is made using various shades of whites and includes
white pillar candles, gourds, pears and wheat stalks.

This simple arrangement of assorted nuts in various compotes makes a simple yet beautiful statement for fall.
These are actually for Thanksgiving but would be great with pumpkin or two added for fall.

What a way to dress up a pumpkin!!
To think these pumpkins went from the ground to almost royalty in
these gorgeous crystal candle holders.
Almost a Cinderella story!
You could easily use white pumpkins instead of orange.
You can find these and directions for the candles along
with many other great ideas and fall recipes from Eternal Flame on Squidoo.

If your not feeling too crafty
you can also find my jute twine pumpkins with cinnamon stick stems

Markdowns On Last Years Christmas Ornaments

Hello everyone,
I have been unpacking some Christmas items
that I had made last year for my Christmas Open House.
I have decided to list them on Ebay at huge markdowns!

These are the snowman mittens and stockings
wood and wire ornaments.
They are made of precut wood that I painted white
and decopaged material with asst. snowmen scenes onto
and then added a curly wire hanger and matching material bows
and accented with buttons.
These are a set of 7 with a starting bid of $4.99

Here are some "homespun" muslin ornaments.

These I made by sewing squares of
country homespun material to pieces of muslin.
Then I attached them with a wooden dowel and curly wire ribbon
and accented with buttons.

I also left a pocket in the front to add a gift card or a treat.
These are a starting bid of $4.99 for a set of 9.

I also have only 3 of my scented gingerbread houses left.

These are resin that I handpainted and added candy cane stripes and gumdrop trees
and added glitter snowtop roofs.
Then when dry I scented them with cooking vanilla.
These can easily be rescented year after year and they smell wonderful.
Only 3 left with a starting bid of $1.49.

I also have a set of Santa's Red Truck ornaments.
These are resin that I have painted and added sayings
like ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas and Santa Express.
I only have 8 of these left with a starting bid of $4.99

These are a Patriotic set of stockings and ornaments
that I made from a pair of jeans and an old sweater.

I added patchwork patches and star buttons.
These are listed at a starting bid of $1.99 for a set of 6.

And these are the last of my "homespun" Scented Star Ornaments.
These are resin with raised hearts and buttons
that I have painted in blue, burgundy and green.
Then I "painted" them with cinnamon and cooking vanilla.
These can easily be rescented year after year.
These are at a starting bid of $1.99 for a set of 6.
These can be found listed on my ebay.

If anyone would be interested in tutorials on any of these
please ask in the comments and I will try my best to make some.
Thanks so much for looking
and have a great day!

Rusty Tin And Cinnamon Painted Ivy

Hello,
I was looking through some things in my shed today and I came across this little rusty tin.
I think it originally belonged in an old coffee pot because it was in a bag with other old inserts for percolator coffee pots.  But I thought with all the holes in it that it would be perfect for a candle and would look like a punched tin candle holder.

I wrapped a piece of burgundy checked ribbon around it and tied some cinnamon sticks together and put in the center.  Then I added some white pip berries... but it still looked "unfinished".  I had some green silk ivy but it was "too green" and didn't match the rustic country look of the tin.

So I decided to paint the ivy with cinnamon and vanilla!  I have used this technique with plaster christmas ornaments but I had never tried it on silk flowers.  I must say it turned out better than I had expected!

This is so easy and all you need is about a tablespoon of ground cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla extract. You just mix them together until you get the consistency of paint and brush it on the leaves.

You could also mix the cinnamon with some white all purpose glue like I use on my gingerbread ornaments to look like batter.  But I like the added scent of the vanilla and it dries to a lighter "rusty" color than the darker color of mixing with glue.

Once the leaves were dried I added them to the candle holder.  This is an upclose picture and you can see how pretty the cinnamon looks on the leaves.

I added a battery operated candle inside and it looks so pretty lit up.

I will be listing this on ebay http://shop.ebay.com/cinnamonrosecottage/m.html
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this.

Christmas Craft And Gift Open House 2009

Thank you for stopping by!
I am going to share with you some pictures from the
Christmas Craft and Gift Open House that I hosted in my home in December.
I know I am late getting these posted but hopefully you will enjoy looking at them.
The open house was held December 17th - 20th
and it went great until the 21" of snow we had on the 20th.

Even with all the snow I still got up and got ready because I thought for sure someone
would be brave enough to trek through the snow to come!
But since I live on a dirt road and it is one of the last roads in
the township to get plowed ... needless to say we had no customers on Saturday.
But the rest of the days were a success.
I had a total of 7 different vendors participate including myself.
We had a nice variety of items which included
hand painted glass, jewelry, soaps and lotions, wreaths,
ornaments, wooden items, home baked goods,
vintage items as well as gift items.
Here are some pictures from the open house:

Here is a link for more pictures:

This was a lot of work but so much fun!
I had refreshments set up that included
hot chocolate, cookies, brownies and candy
and each vendor donated a door prize.
I am planning another in the Spring and I can hardly wait.
Thanks for looking.
