Country Prim Gingerbread Wall Decor Made From Rusty Vintage Tongs

I wanted to share these gingerbread girl Christmas decorations 

that I recently made.

I had two old and rusty vintage salad tongs...

that I just couldn't seem to sell and of course I couldn't throw them out...

sounding like an episode of Hoarders! ;)

So I decided to dress them up a bit with some faux greenery, 

a resin gingerbread girl, berries and cinnamon sticks!

And I finished them off with a burgundy checked bow...

I added a jute tie for hanging...

Perfect for any Country or Primitive decor!

Fresh Baked Gingerbread Man Bird Seed Cookies

Hello,

I just wanted to share with you my new batch of bird seed cookies.

You may recall the ones below that I made for Spring and July 4th.

I had some requests for larger cookies so I made up a fresh batch of

large gingerbread man cookies.

These are made of 100% All Natural Ingredients with no added sugar or salt.

And they have a jute hanger which is also safe for the birds.

They are 5 1/2" high and 1" thick and weigh

approx. 6 ounces each.

They even have real raisin buttons!

They come packaged in cellophane bags with a choice of

country gingham or satin ribbon.

I think these would be perfect to give as a gift or party or wedding favors.

I will making more in different shapes in the next few weeks

as I get them made I will be sure to post them.

Why just feed the birds when you can decorate your garden too!

Easy Valentine's Day House ~ Sweet Pink Confection!

Well since we were snowed in for 3 days me and my son Derrick

decided to make a Valentine house.

This was so easy and all you need are

pink strawberry wafer cookies, canned icing and assorted candies.

Here are the directions:

Start by assembling 4 walls using icing as the morter.

Then stand each wall up and icing the 4 corners.

Let dry for approx. 2 hrs. for icing to set.

Assemble 2 sections for the roof and join them with icing.

Icing the top section of the house where the roof will set and then set the roof on top.

I used toothpicks to hold the roof in place until it set.

Cut corners off of some of the cookies and fill in under the roof with icing.

I found the easiest way to do this is using a toothpick to hold them.

Again let dry for approx. 2 hours for the icing to set.

Once dry icing the roof and apply candy decorations.

Let dry overnight and then remove the toothpicks.

Hint: To speed up drying time you can preheat your oven and then turn it off

and place the house on a cookie sheet and put in oven while warm.

*** Do not leave oven on or it will burn***

Pink and white conversation heart candies decorate the roof.

We used a red Hershey's Kiss for the chimney!

A pink starburst and some red skittles for the windows.

Red Licorice for the door and sides.

This was so much fun I was ready to do a whole village...

but Derrick was bored after this one and was ready to go play in the snow.

But I am still thinking of little ice cream cone trees and a red hot's sidewalk!

Christmas Craft And Gift Open House 2009

I am going to share with you some pictures from the

Christmas Craft and Gift Open House that I hosted in my home in December.

I know I am late getting these posted but hopefully you will enjoy looking at them.

The open house was held December 17th - 20th

and it went great until the 21" of snow we had on the 20th.

Even with all the snow I still got up and got ready because I thought for sure someone

would be brave enough to trek through the snow to come!

But since I live on a dirt road and it is one of the last roads in

the township to get plowed ... needless to say we had no customers on Saturday.

But the rest of the days were a success.

I had a total of 7 different vendors participate including myself.

We had a nice variety of items which included

hand painted glass, jewelry, soaps and lotions, wreaths,

ornaments, wooden items, home baked goods,

vintage items as well as gift items.

This was a lot of work but so much fun!

I had refreshments set up that included

hot chocolate, cookies, brownies and candy

and each vendor donated a door prize.

I am planning another in the Spring and I can hardly wait.
