Hello,
Here is a great free ebook download for Holiday Gifts in a jar from FaveCrafts.
It not only has recipes but also some great ideas of how to decorate the jars.

It may just be me... but I would rather be given cookies that are already made than a cookie mix I have to make myself! LOL I would personally rather give and receive layered or flavored nuts in a jar as a gift. You can buy gourmet one's like the photo to the right from specialty stores but they are so easy to make yourself.
To make layered nut gifts in a jar all you need is a pretty jar and an assortment of nuts. I like to use cashews, pistacio, honey nuts, almonds and pecans. Depending on how many gifts you are making you can either pick up cans of different varieties at your local grocery store or discount store or buy in bulk at wholesale club stores. Make sure your jar is clean and start layering the nuts, seal and tie off with a pretty bow.
I also like to give flavored or roasted nuts as gifts in jars. I save all my small jelly jars to use for these but you could also use ziplock baggies with a pretty printed topper or even holiday tins. Just one thing to keep in mind about flavored nuts is they have a limited shelf life and should be made no more than a day or two before gift giving. Let cool completely before putting them in any containers. These also make great hostess and housewarming gifts.
Here are a few recipes I like to use:
Sugared Almonds
Ingredients:
1 cup whole blanched almonds
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
Heat almonds, sugar and butter in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until almonds are toasted and sugar is a golden brown, about 15 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Spread on aluminum foil; sprinkle with salt. Cool and break into clusters.
Spiced Pecans
Ingredients:
1 egg white
1 teaspoon water
5 cups pecan halves
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
In a mixing bowl, with an electric hand-held mixer on high speed, beat egg white and water until foamy. Stir pecans into egg white mixture until well coated. Combine sugar, cinnamon, and salt; sprinkle over pecans, stirring once again to coat thoroughly.
Spread pecans in single layer on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 225° for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Leave on baking sheet until completely cooled. Store in an airtight container.
Cinnamon Walnuts
Ingredients
1 cup sugar 1/3 cup evaporated milk 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 cups walnut halves
Directions
In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, milk, cinnamon and salt. Cook over medium heat, without stirring, until a candy thermometer reads 238 degrees F (soft-ball stage). Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla and walnuts. Spread onto waxed paper to harden. Break into pieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Sweet & Spicy Roasted Nuts
1 lb. mixed unsalted almonds, pecans, and cashews
1-1/2 Tbs. light brown sugar
2 tsp. chopped fresh thyme
1/2 tsp. chipotle powder
Kosher salt
2 Tbs. unsalted butter, melted
Position a rack in the center of the oven and heat the oven to 400°F. Spread the nuts on a large rimmed baking sheet and roast until they start to brown, about 10 minutes.
While the nuts are roasting, combine the sugar, thyme, chipotle powder, and 1 tsp. salt in a small bowl. Transfer the nuts to a large bowl, add the butter, and toss well. Add the sugar mixture and toss again to coat evenly. Season with more salt to taste, transfer to small bowls, and serve while still warm. (These are also good at room temperature and will keep in an airtight container for at least 3 days.)
Here are some great recipes I found from Better Home and Gardens

I am sooo ready for Spring and I have been working on a few Springtime and Easter projects.
Today I am going to share with you this easy tutorial on how to make Easter eggs out of embroidery floss.
These are so easy to make and they turn out so pretty and dainty looking.
Supplies Needed:
- Round balloons
- Assorted Colors of Embroidery Floss
- Glue or Mod Podge
- Bowl or Container
Instructions:
- Blow your balloon up to about 1 1/2" or 2" and tie the end.
- Dip your embroidery floss into the glue or modge podge and wrap around the balloon until you get the desired look you want. (I like mine not too close so they have a lacy look)
- Once covered hang up to dry (use a christmas ball hook or unfold a paper clip for a hanger) or set them in an empty styrofoam egg carton.
- Let dry overnight. I ruined a few by not being patient and letting them dry completely!
- Once completely dry pop the balloon and remove.
These look so pretty displayed in a basket or in a dish.
I will probably take a few and add some glitter and a ribbon and a few small silk flowers to hang them on an Easter tree. If I get them finished I will post more pictures.
Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoyed these.

Easy Valentine's Day House ~ Sweet Pink Confection!
Well since we were snowed in for 3 days me and my son Derrick
decided to make a Valentine house.
This was so easy and all you need are
pink strawberry wafer cookies, canned icing and assorted candies.
Here are the directions:
Start by assembling 4 walls using icing as the morter.
Then stand each wall up and icing the 4 corners.
Let dry for approx. 2 hrs. for icing to set.
Assemble 2 sections for the roof and join them with icing.
Icing the top section of the house where the roof will set and then set the roof on top.
I used toothpicks to hold the roof in place until it set.
Cut corners off of some of the cookies and fill in under the roof with icing.
I found the easiest way to do this is using a toothpick to hold them.
Again let dry for approx. 2 hours for the icing to set.
Once dry icing the roof and apply candy decorations.
Let dry overnight and then remove the toothpicks.
Hint: To speed up drying time you can preheat your oven and then turn it off
and place the house on a cookie sheet and put in oven while warm.
*** Do not leave oven on or it will burn***
Pink and white conversation heart candies decorate the roof.
We used a red Hershey's Kiss for the chimney!
A pink starburst and some red skittles for the windows.
Red Licorice for the door and sides.
This was so much fun I was ready to do a whole village...
but Derrick was bored after this one and was ready to go play in the snow.
But I am still thinking of little ice cream cone trees and a red hot's sidewalk!
Happy Valentine's Day ♥
I hope you enjoyed this and thank you for looking

Easy And Elegant Valentine Feather Heart Ornaments
I am going to share with you how to make these easy and elegant Valentine heart shaped feather ornaments.
These are so easy to make and all you need is:
2 feathers the same length
a cool temp glue gun
and a piece of string or ribbon.
Begin by bending each feather sideways around your finger
to make the shape of a half of heart.
Apply some low temp glue to the top where the feathers criss cross.
Next apply some low temp glue to the bottom of the feathers where they criss cross.
Tie a piece of string or ribbon at the top and you are done!
Thank you and I hope you enjoyed looking at these.
Sooo Easy Paper Clip Valentine Garland
As promised I am going to share with you
how to make paper clip Valentine's Garland.
These are soooo easy and all you need are a package of plastic coated paper clips.
I picked mine up at the dollar store.
You just sort out the colors that you would like to use and clip them together.
I used red, white and pink in mine.
It is that easy!
I used mine to decorate my Valentine Tree
but they would also be great to hang above a doorway
or a window to hang cards, ornaments or a banner.
Thank you for looking!
Valentine's Day Tree
I just wanted to share my Valentine's Day Tree with you.
These are so easy to make.
I went outside and cut some branches off of a tree
and tied them together with a rubber band.
Since we still have snow on the ground here
I decided to spray them with a can of white snow instead of spray paint.
After the snow was dry I put the branches in one of my
vintage milk glass vases.
I had trouble deciding which one to use but I finally decided on the tallest hobnail vase.
I decorated them with a small string of white lights.
Then I added a garland that I made from plasic coated paper clips
and some of my feather heart ornaments.
(I will post tutorials for these soon)
This is what I have so far I know it looks a little bare
but as soon as I get more made I will post some more pictures.
I hope you have enjoyed looking.
